Amazon Buy Buttons Showing

Post by CharleneB » Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:38 am

Can anyone tell my why Amazon Buy buttons that take the customer straight to Amazon have started showing (only seems to be on newer versions 5.2 and 5.1)

This is not happening on all items just a few, how do I stop it ??
Thanks

(not happening on my site listed below as old version used)

Is the cart turned on? Are the buttons showing only for downloadable items?

Yes the carts on Mike have a look its my http://www.peppapigmania.co.uk site, just up-graded to 5.2 version from 5.1 (it was still doing it) Seems just to be on home page which is asin list. Also when I click o enlarge item on catogary page they don't enlarge?

Have changed to browse node (but dont like it showing the page numbers on home page thats why I prefer asin list) But still cant enlarge pictures - Help

Open a ticket and attach the cfg.saved.php file. I'll try it in a test site so I can dial up the Home Page ASIN list option.

Charlene,

I like Peppa Pig. I haven't finished mine yet.

So many pig characters, also look at Jakers!, Hamilton, Wilbur, Positive Pig, Olivia, Alpha Pig, Miss Piggy, and of course Porky.

Love yours Carl, my sites are so basic compared to yours and I wish I knew how to do ones in other countries and link to mine, will have to try to figure that out next year! I stick to the same format and layout for all mine just change colours, headers etc - it seems to work.

At the moment just doing a Tatty Teddy one and have but its not live yet, then doing Elmo, then I'm trying a camping one and a kindle one just to see how they go (hopefully will have them all up and running by the new year) then thats me for a little while.

I am encountering the same issue but only when I have done a search.

I am using the most current AOM version.

For instance when I do a search on the terms "general semantics" some of the buttons are "Add to cart" and some are "Buy from Amazon" on both my amazon.com: http://bookstoreshop.looksee.info/index ... tics&c=all
and
amazon.ca: http://bookstoreshopcanada.looksee.info ... tics&c=all

Richard,

Amazon will not allow ebooks or other downloadable items to be added to the cart. So those appear with the Buy buttons instead.

However, if a customer follows the link to Amazon and makes the purchase (or adds anything else to their Amazon cart while there), you're still credited for the sale(s).

OK, I understand. I did not notice that those Buy Amazon buttons were for Kindle products.
Thanks.

For downloadable item (e.g. Kindle ebook), after I clicked "Buy from Amazon" button, I don't see Amazon associate ID / affiliate ID in the browser URL field. But if it is not a downloadable item (e.g. shoes), after clicked the "Buy from Amazon" button, I can see the link in the browser URL field is carry our associate ID.

Is it an error with "buy from Amazon" button link for downloadable item?

I'm only seeing it happen with Kindle items, not downloadable video games, mp3s, movies or mobile apps. They all use the same code, so if the ID is being stripped out of the URL, it must be happening on Amazon's side. This does not mean the sale is not credited; it may just not be appearing in the URL for some obscure reason. The only mention of Kindle in the list of excluded items from Amazon is this:
any digital Kindle product purchased as a subscription (e.g., Kindle newspaper subscriptions, magazine subscriptions, blog subscriptions, etc.);
I'll check further into this to see what I can find out.
