pinkdivashop.com

Post by winkleink » Tue Aug 23, 2011 12:40 pm

Hi,

I set up http://www.pinkdivashop.com over a year ago and then Amazon.com changed and AOM needed to be updated I didn't get around to sorting it out... until Amazon emailed to say they had $7 for me, so I decided to put the site back up again.

This is 3 hours work (other than the logo) so any suggestions on how to make it perform more effectively would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I know the site is only the start and the real work comes from the promotion, so any tips on promotion a US AOM site would be great.

Thanks,
Albert.

I think that you should use the "buy button" only on item pages to avoid the Google ban. Try to add more content on your homepage.

sparks199 & SWalker1 - Thank you for your advice.

I just checked my Amazon stats and 2 products were bought through the site. Neither of them pink and 1 of them was computer memory. Go figure.

So, it looks like the site is being found now I just have to promote, promote, promote and tame down the pink and add more products to the home page...

In case your wondering - $11 in commission

Just a little update.
I have done nothing with the site. No additional advertising.
Now total commission is $15.10.

So, an additional $4 in commission since August 16th.

I might have to make time for promotion.

This is still on the free - shared commission version of associate-o-matic.

Since you can see there's money to be made and you need to do promotion, why not upgrade to the full version. SO much more you can do.

Why not backlink? Profile links, 1 hour links, blog commenting, hi PR links, articles, blog network contextual links. I'm going through a course now to do backlinking right. THEN boost the backlinks themselves.

Still the same. Nothing since the 11th.

My 1st action is to update associate-o-matic as I know there are some changes that might affect the site.

Then get on the promotional trail. With Christmas party season coming up I'm going to use that to promote the products on the site.

Something strange I'm still getting clicks reported in Amazon but no sales conversion.
Clicks for October 28 (so I can remember)

littletoons

I haven't ignored, I just haven't actioned. I agree with all the advice.
The site is something I am building slowly rather than being a major project.

What I have done is added the left side banner for MyHabit and also the top banner for Shine On.
I have updated the home page so that it now shows a random selection of products from a list of about 40. The old homepage was giving some very strange products.
I reviewed the text and adjusted the title, descriptions and fixed some minor typos and grammatical errors.

For November still only the single sale so a conversion ration of 2.3% for Clicks. So, 47 clicks and 1 Order.

I found the following announcement by Amazon that might be of interest to others.
There doesn't appear to be an announcement that the fix has been put in place.

https://forums.aws.amazon.com/ann.jspa?annID=1246
Dear Product Advertising API Developer,

We are aware of a recent issue with the Product Advertising API cart operations that affects commissions for some orders placed from the PurchaseURL. The root of the issue has been identified and the issue will be resolved in the next week.

We will be following up with affected Associates and will be backfilling affected orders.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Product Advertising API Team
Again, thanks littletoons for following up
Albert.

Still no orders since the 2nd of November.
I checked my site statistics.

Visitors
September:142
October: 262
November: 278
December: 156 (so far)
This is from AWStats and it removed the search engines and bots it knows about from the unique visitor stats. For September there were 528 pages registered fro the 142 visitors while Other was 4725 pages which makes me think AWStats is doing quite a good job of removing the bots.

Also, the search terms used in each of the months are consistent with the sites purpose and are similar for all 4 months. Again this makes me think that I'm still having problems with Amazon registering orders but I have no way of knowing.

I finally took onboard the original feedback.
http://www.pinkdivashop.com / http://uk.pinkdivashop.com

I have de-pinked the site.
I modified the top (PT) where the logo is to include some images and also graphic links to the US and UK sites as well as adding a statement about secure payment.

I updated the sites description and keywords also.

Next is a proper custom home page.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,
Albert.
