Re: "Featured Items" Custom Box using asin.txt

mcarp555 has been kind enough to help me test the little program, and has added some CSS styling to the output so it will blend better with your AOM installation. The program now requires you to edit the file to put your access key and secret access key in it; so far, I haven't found a security issu...

Re: "Featured Items" Custom Box using asin.txt

I think I finally have it working ... I sent a beta copy to mcarp55 to see if he can test it before I subject everyone else to it. The new Amazon requirements are not that difficult once you can get through their obtuse explanations. I was able to find code others had done, and that simplified thing...

Re: "Featured Items" Custom Box using asin.txt

Well, I took a quick look at the new Amazon requirements and the code will have to incorporate the individual public and private AWS keys. That means anyone who wants to use the code will have to obtain those keys and edit the code to include them. I suppose that isn't too much of a bother because y...

Re: "Featured Items" Custom Box using asin.txt

Hi guys,

Mike did contact me over the weekend, but I wasn't able to take a look at the code yet. I will update it, along with Mike's modifications either tonight or tomorrow!

Re: "Featured Items" Custom Box using asin.txt

Images are not always provided in all of the sizes, so the code displays the "image not available - click for details" link to take the person to that product's detail page.

Re: Including "shop.php" and read permissions

Iframes work, but they always bother me ... the vertical scroll bar inside the frame makes it look like a poorly integrated site to me. The Joomla "wrapper" function is evidently a "smart iframe", as it sizes the iFrame so there are no scroll bars. It works well and was the solution in this case. I ...

Re: UltraliteCamping.com: Up for critique.

I would figure that having, "In association with Amazon.com" would be enough ... do we, as affiliates, need to add more? I think so ... all the purchase agreements are referenced on the Amazon.com side. I don't put anything but what is clearly marketing info on my side of the transaction. I use sta...

Re: UltraliteCamping.com: Up for critique.

Nice layout (although I also have the horizontal scrolling; and I'm at 1024 x 768 resolution, which is usually non-scrolling). I would re-word the disclaimer at the bottom which seems "negative" to me. Something like: "UltalightCamping.com has teamed up with Amazon.com, the Internet's leading retail...

Re: Can You Sell An A-O-Matic Site?

Yeah, exactly. I charge for installs (either basic file setup, ready for customization, or a completed store). But that's okay since it's not my Associate ID. If it's a full version, I verify it, either by noting what they've tried to install on their own, or asking Justin to double-check it. I wan...

Re: Including "shop.php" and read permissions

Thanks, I did try that, but it didn't work. That might be because of the server I'm on (it uses phpSuExec to run php as an executable, and usually the highest permission you can set is 755). I did find that Joomla's wrapper function will work nicely with a modified tempate that doesn't include a lef...

Including "shop.php" and read permissions

I'm trying to find a way to include AOM into a Joomla site using a plugin that allows you to include any .php file directly into content (there are two of them that do this, Jumi and mosBot). I have run into a read permission error : "Application Error: You must enable read permission to the /aom di...

Re: Need help with control panel

If you get really stuck, PM me your log in and password and I'll see if I see anything when I log in. I may not be able to find it, but I've used AOM for a couple of years now, configuring it for a couple of clients as well, so I've seen a lot of "stuff" that happens. [Edit: no PM here ... you can c...

Re: Need help with control panel

Not sure I can help, but I'll give you a couple of things that caused me problems in the past. Did you upgrade from a prior version? If you did, what does the "version" number say between the logo and the words "Control Panel" at the very top? I've had "version mis-match" issues when my FTP software...

Re: Need help with control panel

Does this happen when you try to "save" the options, or does the control panel load, and then kick you back out as soon as you select anything within the control panel?

Re: php updated and problem

Not sure this will help, but how is your disk space? I have one site running with php5 enabled, and AOM is working fine. But I have had problems in the past with the AOM cache consuming disk space I didn't have, and the control panel couldn't save its settings (that was before Justin added auto cach...
