Upgrading from v3.x
If you are upgrading from Associate-O-Matic v3.0 or later here are the abbreviated upgrade steps:
1. Though we've made every effort for the upgrade process to be painfree,
always make a backup of your current store settings before upgrading. To do this, download your /aom/cfg.saved.php file to your local hard drive for safekeeping.

Before you upgrade your live, production store, it's a good idea to setup a test store (mimicking your live store settings - cfg.saved.php). This will ensure that the new version works properly on your server. Once you see that it's working as expected (e.g. shopping cart, etc), follow the remaining upgrade instructions below.
2. Unzip the files contained in the Associate-O-Matic ZIP file to your local hard drive. Make sure they retain the original directory structures. Make sure you see an /aom directory after you unzip the files.
3.

Open your FTP client software (or use the control panel provided by your web host) and upload the Associate-O-Matic files to your server (web host) overwriting any previous files.

First, upload (FTP) the encrypted PHP in BINARY mode:

  • shop.php
  • admin.php
  • aom.php

Then, upload the files listed below as they are version specific and let your FTP software decide the mode to use whether it be ASCII or BINARY:

  • /aom/cfg.default.php
  • /aom/cfg.css.php
  • /aom/cfg.lang.php
  • /aom/[all the image files] some new images in v3.0.7
4.

Now that all of the files are on your server, it's time to open the Associate-O-Matic Control Panel.

5.

When you open the Control Panel it will pull in all your previous settings and also give you access to any new and enhanced settings which will be marked as such.

Go ahead and customize your store further by using any of these new settings making sure to save your new setting before exiting.

6.

For those with mod_rewrite enabled, grab the latest set of rules here and update your .htaccess file accordingly. Remember not to overwrite any customizations you've made to your mod_rewrite rules. Last updated v3.0.7

7.

If you use the cfg.nodes.php file, it is has been revamped. You'll need to reformat your existing custom subcategories to use the new format.

8.

Congratulations! You're upgraded. View your store from within a web browser.

Upgrading from v2.x
If you are upgrading from Associate-O-Matic v2.x (e.g. v2.8.3 or earlier) here are the upgrade steps:
1. Though we've made every effort for the upgrade process to be painfree,
always make a backup of your current store settings before upgrading. To do this, download your/aom/cfg.saved.php file to your local hard drive for safekeeping.

Before you upgrade your live, production store, follow the new installation instructions to create a test instance of the store to make sure the new version works properly on your server.

TIP: Some FTP client software examples are FileZilla, CuteFtp and SmartFTP.

First, upload (FTP) the encrypted PHP in BINARY mode. NOTE: If you are using a name other than the default you can rename before you upload them making sure to edit the reference inside the file to the new name:

  • shop.php
  • admin.php
  • aom.php

Then, upload all of the remaining files and let your FTP software decide the mode to use whether it be ASCII or BINARY.

  • /aom/cfg.default.php
  • /aom/cfg.css.php  new in v3
  • /aom/cfg.lang.php  new in v3
  • /aom/class.os.php
  • /aom/class.soap.php
  • /aom/[all the image files]
  • /aom/cache/
4.

Now that all of the files are on your server, it's time to open the Associate-O-Matic Control Panel.

For example, in a web browser open the address replacing "yourdomain" with your domain name:
http://www.yourdomain.com/admin.php

5.

When you open the Control Panel it will load in all your previous settings and also give you access to many new and enhanced settings which will marked as such.

Go ahead and customize your store further by using any of these new settings making sure to save your new settings.

In the Control Panel Settings section of our online documentation, we describe in much more detail each of the various settings.

6.

If you are using mod rewrite, be sure to update your rules with the latest
found here.

7.

Congratulations! You're upgraded. View your store from within a web browser.
