Control Panel - RSS Settings

RSS SupportThis section lets you setup RSS inside your store. Not available in the LITE edition - see a comparison chart of editions.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is an XML-based format for content distribution. For a detailed definition of RSS please see Wikipedia.

External RSS
There are two ways you can include external RSS feeds into your store pages.
  1. Custom Boxes
When setting up a custom box you would set the Box Type to RSS Feed. Then in the Box Content you would put the URL to the feed. You can further customize the appearance of the RSS contents by modifying the RSS related CSS hooks in the
    /aom/cfg.css.php file.

  2. Custom Pages
When setting up a custom page you would set the Page Type to RSS Feed. Then in the Page Content you would put the URL to the feed. You can further customize the appearance of the RSS contents by modifying the RSS related CSS hooks in the
    /aom/cfg.css.php file.
Internal RSS
This is where you can enable your own RSS Feeds, built around your store pages, that others can pull into their sites or RSS readers.

To load RSS from your Category, Subcategory, Item pages and Search pages, where Mod Rewrite is Off simply add a "&rss=1" to the end of the URL or for Mod Rewrite set to On replace the ".html" in the URL with a ".rss". If you don't use the ".html" tack on the ".rss" to the end of URL.

RSS This setting allows you to turn on RSS feeds for your store pages. People can in turn subscribe to your feeds and include them in their RSS reader software and websites. Applicable store pages include Categories, Subcategories, Items and Search Pages.
RSS Icons If RSS is activated above, this setting will automatically display a small RSS icon on applicable pages to notifiy visitors of your feeds. This will also help web browsers auto-detect your RSS feeds. To change the default RSS icon, simply replace the /aom/images/rss.png file with a different image file.
RSS Footer This lets you add extra content HTML under each of your RSS feed items such as a link back to your store.
